CDZ’s new sister company, Distinct Sales & Marketing was officially formed 5/1/14. We have just moved into our new offices and would like to formally announce our grand opening. The offices are located in Chesapeake VA with prime responsibility being Dollar Tree/Deals HQ, located six blocks from our offices. Accounts such as Ollie’s and 5 Below will also be addressed. We look forward to building a successful business model similar to the Bentonville operation (Select Sales & Marketing) run by our partner, Joe Murphy. As in the case of Select, CDZ will be 50% partners in Distinct. We will be fully engaged from both a financial as well as strategic standpoint. The current team is long on Dollar Tree experience and expertise in the broker business as well.
 
Bryan Bagwell is co-owner of Distinct and will oversee the everyday operation in addition to making HQ sales calls. Bryan began his career with Dollar Tree when the company opened its first store. He left as a senior VP of Merchandise 27 years later when the chain had grown to 2700 stores. He was very instrumental in the development of all categories at Dollar Tree from its very early stages of existence. Many of the current DT staff were actually hired by Bryan and many relationships remain solidly intact. Since he left in 2004, Bryan has been involved in global sourcing for DT as well as starting his own rep agency. We visited with Bryan last year in Chesapeake and had him visit our Jacksonville showroom as well. The timing and common goals made for a perfect fit. As a result, we are now partners and very much looking ahead to the future.
 
We were very fortunate to have Luanne McCarty agree to join our new team. Luanne began her career in retail at store level with Dollar Tree before moving to corporate HQ. She steadily progressed through the ranks, learning all facets of purchasing including imports. Luanne ultimately became the buyer of one of the most volatile categories at Dollar Tree, that being the HBC department. She excels in product development, strategic planning, forecasting and most importantly, developing unique solutions to difficult challenges. That trait has proven invaluable to vendors since Luanne left Dollar Tree several years ago to pursue a career as a manufacturer’s rep.
 
As mentioned earlier, we are very excited about this new venture and are obviously interested in discussing any and all opportunities our vendor partners feel would be mutually beneficial. Both Bryan and Luanne have vast experience in every category CDZ currently is involved with. I am sure they would very like to share that expertise with you in a manner more extensively than I can. Our intention is to continue to invest in local talent until Distinct Sales & Marketing is second to none in the eyes of Dollar Tree.

Jason Lowe

Jason joined Distinct in Jan 2015 as a Business Analyst. He has an AS in Business Management and over 17 years of experience with Cox Communications, most recently as Technical Support Supervisor for all repair issues in Va. In this roll, he has worked with many data base systems both inside and outside the company to pull information regarding service issues for Sr Management’s review. Jason is very experienced in and has Advanced Training with Advanced Excel and PowerPoint. This training allows him to take complex data and make it easy for users to understand.

Kay Bousman

Kay started her career at Dollar Tree Stores where she spent over 25 years in various roles from the warehouse to buying. Most of that time was in the merchandise area. She was one of the original buyers for the company from store number 1! She has experience in many categories such as HBC, Housewares, Party, Stationery and Seasonal. The last few years she has been on the sales side of the business working for many suppliers as a sales rep and assisting with product development from China.
